2. Pianist Marian McPartland, 90, to Release New CD
Jazz pianist Marian McPartland will mark her 90th birthday on March 20th with the release of her first new studio CD in nine years, Twilight World, on Concord Records. The release date of the album is March 11th. It features McPartland�s regular Piano Jazz trio of bassist Gary Mazzaroppi and drummer Glenn Davis.
In addition to the new release, the acclaimed musician continues to host the Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz radio program for NPR.
And she will also celebrate her birthday week with a series of dates (March 19-23) at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Jazz@Lincoln Center in New York. Among the artists paying tribute that week will be Karrin Allison, Regina Carter, Jason Moran, Jeremy Pelt, Ken Peplowski, Chris Potter and many others.
